Critical ReceptionFirstpost reviewed the movie as "Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor look great, but this film is far from fabulous". Movie critic of Indian Express gave 1.5 star and described the movie as "There is no ‘Shaan’ in this Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt starrer". NDTV gave 3 stars to the movie and stated "It brings together two different worlds and succeeds in striking a balance between the two. For that, and for much else, Shaandaar deserves hearty ovation." Ibnlive gave 2 stars and described the movie as "wildly inconsistent film that seesaws unevenly between charming and WTF! It’s especially disappointing coming from the very writers and director that gave us last year’s terrific Queen."
Martin D'Souza from Glamsham reviewed the movie as "Complete mishmash, no common sense. To top it all, there's a wedding taking place in the United Kingdom by two families who are broke and are depending on the other to bail them out"
